For the first day of our EU excursion in Brussels, we met the Danish Ambassador of the European Union, Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen, this morning.
He tells us about the EU fight to stop climate change and the Climate and Energy Strategy 2030.
For Denmark, their greenhouse gas emissions has reduced 40% compared to 1990. Their aims now are to influence the European Union, and to negotiate with the United Nations to further reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. In South African countries, they have already shifted carbon to sustainable energy. In cooler countries, the action will take place in two years.
"Denmark wants to be the head of the pact." While some countries think wind is difficult to generate energy, 85% of the energy in Denmark are of wind energy. He said, "It's all done by good planning."
